This is something of an early review on the book “Surprised by Hope” by Tom Wright (Or N.T. Wright to his more scholarly audience), who, for those of you unaware, is the Bishop of Durham in the Anglican Communion, and one of the more prominent New Testament theologians of our day.
I say this is [...]

Some of you will know that, for the past month or so, I’ve been travelling around the United States to meet up with various friends and generally see a little more of the world at large. I was urged by many of my friends to keep a travel blog as I went along, which, alas, [...]

It’ s quite strange that as for the last couple of weeks I’ve been thinking about the idea of community within a Christian context, the good folks over at Jesus Manifesto have written an article which expresses my thoughts almost word for word. It was enough to make me wonder whether repeating such thoughts here [...]

As an activist, I have often asked myself (and others) of what the end goals are of the activities in which I engage. Now, for many of us involved in what is sometimes referred to as “politics with a small ‘p,’ ” these activities carry with them a range of different methods, applications, and purposes. [...]

I just came across this blog by American freelance writer Ed Brayton. He speaks of a story he is currently working on which exposes the source behind many “Christian” trinkets in bookshops and supermarkets: sweatshop labour.
It would be laughable were the reality not so tragic. In an age of supposed enlightenment and human respect, slavery [...]

I use the term “resistance” with some reticence here. It’s difficult for me to explain exactly why, but I would much prefer the term “response.” Resistance implies an ultimate objective which seeks to overthrow the existing status quo, which isn’t what I feel Christians ought to be doing at all. Imagine if Christ fulfilled the [...]

A friend of mine was explaining to me last night about how she feels that Christianity has too often been mixed with agendas to push certain political issues, and that people of this faith need to get back to the “fundamentals.”
I didn’t really ask what she specifically meant by this, but whilst I would [...]

Since we are in the season of Ramadan, and in the interests of interfaith dialogue, I felt it might be an idea to discuss the ritual of fasting. It often seems that the practice is known mostly among Muslims, holy mystics, and monks of various traditions. Within Christianity, the season of Lent most probably comes [...]

I wrote down some viewpoints of mine lately on one of the forums I frequent. So in a sense, this is a lazy blog post but I thought it might be a good idea to get it down where I can find it. Apologies if these ideas seem scrappy and somewhat disjointed.

Question: How can someone who considers themselves to be an Anarchist justify campaigning efforts in which they actively lobby a government and appeal to its officials for the effecting of positive social change?
There isn’t as much of a conflict in interests as might be readily apparent. A Christian is called to take steps (with the [...]
